When I read the latest VK chapter 69, and arrived at this page, a pang of sadness sliced my heart :P
Yuki sees Zero again, after 7 fricking chapters (which is 7 months equivalent to manga readers time I kid you not) She is taken for questioning into the Hunter’s Association. Alone and confused, she goes in and Zero passes by. But Zero only throws a side glance at her and acts so indifferent.
It reminds me of that particular chapter in Persuasion by Jane Austen, when Anne meets Wentworth after 8 years, after she broke his heart. The chapter 8 is from volume I (adapted)
They had no conversation together, no intercourse but what the commonest civility required. Once so much to each other! Now nothing! There had been a time, when of all the large party now filling the drawing-room at Uppercross, they would have found it most difficult to cease to speak to one another. There could have been no two hearts so open, no tastes so similar, no feelings so in unison, no countenances so beloved. Now they were as strangers; nay, worse than strangers, for they could never become acquainted. It was a perpetual estrangement.
Wentworth shows Anne the same indifference that Zero shows Yuki. Ah, the agony! TT
